We're All Venture Capitalists Now . . . .

I recently updated my resume to include the title "venture capitalist". Given that my share of the national debt has more than quadrupled in just a couple of months, much of it to fund pie in the sky New Deal fantasies and bail out financial groups that gambled on confusing whatchamacallits, I see no problem whatsoever in conferring such a title on every man, woman and child in this country. My 6-year-old nephew was rather ambivalent about his new appellation and just continued playing with his legos. He'll have plenty of time to ponder his indebtedness to China, Japan, The Emirates and just about any other country that foolishly invested in US treasuries.

It seems that each of us now owes far more than the paltry $35K calculated by Brillig, so why shouldn't we get some resume padding out of the deal? We'll be auctioning off yet more treasuries to finance Prez. Obama's Great Infrastructure play and paying for it later through higher taxes and devalued dollars. I think the transition to more efficient bulbs and increasing the number of households with access to broadband internet--you know, for enhanced streaming porn viewing--qualifies as venture capital, albeit a deluded and foolhardy variety. Many Americans don't know, and even fewer are capable of understanding just how they'll be held accountable for our frenetic spending sprees, but rest assured, we'll all be paying for this (your grandchildren included) for many years to come.

I admint that I initially applauded the idea of "fixing" America's schools until I realized that Obama literally meant plaster and paint kind of fixing, not "let's produce intelligent, emotionally stable students who are capable of competing with Asian and European students who have not been indoctrinated with the same schmaltzy, feel good brand of education we currently offer here in the US". After all, they'll be the ones paying for this mess. The least we can do is give them the skills to successfully toil away under the whip of their Chinese overlords.
