How will history judge $150 million inauguration during the most serious recession in 75 years?
Probably not very kindly. But why the fuck should that prevent our egomaniacal president elect from throwing the world's most lavish, self-congratulatory & gratuitous celebratory party the world has ever known, and on the deck of the titanic no less? I mean, it's not like the US economy could put that money to better use elsewhere, like say, unemployment benefits or food stamps. Personally, I think they should immediately buy up mortgage backed securities with that cash before the Chinese rush in and snap up all that succulent debt up right out from under us.
The all-star celebrity lineup is particularly impressive, giving his whole presidency the credibility it would otherwise lack. After all, nothing says gravitas like Usher, Garth Brooks, Tiger Woods, Beyone, Jay-Z & other celebtards on the podium. So far, the American people apear to be duly impressed with the Obama's post-election performance (for whatever that's worth), and so as long as the worldly, well-informed American people think he's doing a great job, why not shouldn't he treat himself to a $150 million party at their expense? He'll be treating himself to $350 billion in a matter of days, but $150 million seems like a good reference point by which to gauge future losses based on mismanagement and graft.
Do you think it has occurred to any of the mindless twits that inhabit this decaying land that dropping $150 million right before the onset of Great Depression Redux is perhaps a little irresponsible? It certainly seemed foolish and decadent to me. People are literally going hungry and yet we insist on such fiscal fecklessness. I'm truly ashamed of my country and the American people. When the full extent of this crisis has unfolded, I hope someone will point to January 20th as being emblematic of the larger psycho-social problems that caused this nation to collapse.
