Remember that the next time you see some 15-year-old thrown to the ground, cuffed and tossed into the back of a squad car for shoplifting a $1 candy bar. Ponder the equitable and impartial nature of our legal system when some small time drug dealer gets sent up for years over an ounce of pot or a gram of cocaine. Consider what this country has become and where it's heading when you see Bernie Madoff, America's favorite slimy piece of shit hedge fund manager Ponzi Master whose machinations lightened investors portfolios by a whopping $50 billion, swaggering around lower Manhattan looking like the cat that ate the canary.
Just ask yourself what kind of outcome you could expect had you embezzled $500,000 dollars from your employer. Think you'd be at home under "house arrest" without ever having spent so much as one solitary night in a real jail cell? Now, imagine for a minute that you had been embezzling money for years, and with such ill-gotten gains, you acquired an impressive array expensive diamond encrusted Tiffany & Cartier watches, brooches and necklaces and surreptitiously attempted to send them to relatives while under a state of home imprisonment? Think you'd still be under house arrest, or would you be showering in the local county lock up with your back against the wall in hopes of maintaining the integrity of your as of yet un-probed anus? Yeah, thought so. I'd already be someone's bunk bitch and you'd be bargaining for the virginal state of your tight little ass with Marlboros.
”The defendant sent a package containing a total of approximately 13 watches, one diamond necklace, an emerald ring and two sets of cuff links,” the filing said. “The government has been informed that the value of those items could exceed $1 million. Two other packages - containing a diamond bracelet, a gold watch, a diamond Cartier watch, a diamond Tiffany watch, four diamond brooches, a jade necklace and other assorted jewelry - also were sent to relatives.”
So, why isn't Bernard Madoff biting down on a washcloth while some pederast or murderer has the distinct pleasure of being the first to sodomize the biggest con man the world has ever known? Well that's pretty clear, isn't it? Even as a scam artist of positively galactic proportions, Madoff is still "better" than you and me. He's bankrupted more people than the infamous S&L scandal of the 80s but still he remains a thousand times more respected and influential than any pillar of your community.
He steals billions, much of it from charitable organizations, and remains under house arrest in his $7 million Manhattan penthouse. He continues to deceive and deprive his investors of money that is rightfully theirs even AFTER his arrest, and is placed back under house arrest despite giving every indication that he is a flight risk and will likely attempt to hide more of his assets. Ahhh, the pampered life of a rich, connected New York Jew . . . Anyone care to wager that Federal Magistrate Ronald L. Ellis is Jewish?
